Known for offering comprehensive services for air, ocean, road, and transit shipments, Allcargo T\u00fcrkiye offers end-to-end solutions for international supply chains with strong road and rail freight services in the domestic arena, ensuring efficient last mile connectivity. They recently deployed their expertise for two very innovative movements \u2013 to move a robot, and a turtle!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting innovation to protect human life<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Allcargo T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s commitment to cutting-edge advancements and safety had them sponsoring the search and rescue robot, Umay\u2019s debut at the European Land-Robot Trial (ELROB 2024), one of Europe\u2019s leading robotics competitions held annually in Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the logistics partner, they also handled the entire movement of Umay from T\u00fcrkiye to Germany in time for the competition, and back, with painstaking planning and careful execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Umay, which means \u2018saviour mother’<\/em> in Turkish mythology, was built by the \u0130stanbul Technical University\u2019s ITU Robotic Search and Rescue Team (ITU RAKE) to assist in natural and man-made disasters with tasks that can endanger human life or where physical human intervention is limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ITU RAKE team comprises engineering students and professors; the sponsorship gives an impetus to innovation and encourages young minds to build their application capabilities in creating real-world solutions to pressing humanitarian problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Umay successfully retrieved a dummy human that was trapped in a simulated conflict zone, in the search and rescue segment of the competition. For this feat, the student team earned the second place \u2013 an excellent performance considering this is the first time T\u00fcrkiye participated in the ELROB 2024; while the team representing enterprises came fifth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Helping a special guest go the distance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is a testament to the team\u2019s ingenuity that in addition to moving regular goods and even engineering marvels like robots, they also help amphibians looking for a new home!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team recently crossed paths with Iggy, Europe\u2019s largest green sea turtle, who in 2005 was found injured in the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean Sea and needed to be moved to Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allcargo T\u00fcrkiye \u2019s air freight team made meticulous efforts to ensure Iggy, who at a healthy 205 kg, made the journey safely and in the most comfortable position possible. This complex movement that required extreme caution, since while regular cargo can be safely wrapped and tightly packed, a living creature needs to have enough space to move a bit, and the box has to be well ventilated. One has to ensure only the smoothest handling of the box to avoid it from getting startled or injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
