Changing Gears: Advancing Women in Heavy Motor Vehicle Operations

At Allcargo Group, we believe the road to inclusion runs through opportunity. When women from economically weaker communities first stood before a massive HMV trailer at our Skill Center in Bokadvira, Uran, hesitation was natural. But hesitation gave way to determination — and within just one week, all of the women were driving confidently and independently.

Launched in February 2026 our Women Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver Training Programme is a first-of-its-kind initiative in India’s port logistics corridor. Targeting women who already hold LMV licences, the programme bridges the gap between where they are and where they can go — from light vehicles to heavy trailers, from the sidelines to the driver’s seat of India’s logistics industry.

India faces a critical shortage of skilled HMV drivers. Women represent near-zero participation in commercial driving. This programme is our answer to both. The batches of women will be certified HMV drivers — ready for deployment and positioned for the next frontier: Electric Commercial Vehicle operations at the port.

At Allcargo Group and Avashya Foundation, we are not just training drivers. We are changing who gets to drive.
